"If You See Sally"

SYNOPSIS: Young Sally Ellis reluctantly leaves her family after her grieving father blames her for the
accidental drowning of her brother. She lives in the big city for a time, barely making a living, until her
father realizes he has been unfair and asks her to return. Happy and jubilant to be returning, Sally is killed
in a road accident en route. But her spirit keeps trying, year after year, to make it all the way home.

COMMENTARY: This episode remains one of the most remarkable and best-remembered stories from
One Step Beyond. Like the mythological Tantalus, Sally's father is doomed to always just miss seeing
Sally again, even though others meet her and experience her joyful determination to get back home . . .
