"The Open Window"
November 3 1959.

** Spoiler Alert **

SYNOPSIS: A struggling magazine artist in Greenwich Village sees a woman gassing herself in the
hotel room across from his apartment, but when he tries to prevent the suicide attempt he learns that the
woman he "saw" has not checked into the hotel at all. The artist continues to witness the suicide attempt
again and again, until time finally catches up with his prescient psychic vision.

COMMENTARY: A window is a perfect object to construct an episode around. As a whole, One Step
seeks to be a window or portal to the unknown and this episode literalizes that metaphor by
locating a strange psychic vision just across an alley, through an open window . . .
