** Spoiler Alert **

SYNOPSIS: A state prison warden contacts One Step Beyond host John Newland about an inexplicable
happening that has him baffled. Four prisoners recently escaped and one of the fugitives a gypsy, died in
the attempt. Yet after his death, he apparently convinced a sensitive young inmate on a path to a lifetime of
criminal behavior to return to prison and salvage his future.

COMMENTARY: In one sense, this episode is a coming-of-age story. At first, the young inmate just wants
to belong to something . . . anything. He wanted to be part of a gang because his Mother was dead and his
Father was a drunk. And he joins in the escape attempt in order to prove he is worthy of the prison group . . .
